So delighted to be one of the lucky photographers who got to photograph Strip and Dip – 2019
“Individually we are one drop, together we are an ocean.”
On Saturday the 8th June, on Maghermore beach in Co. Wicklow 1,800 women stripped and dipped to help “kick the sh*te out of cancer” by raising much needed funds for the charity Aoibhinn’s Pink Tie.
This was the 7th year of the Strip and Dip event, which is the brainchild Deirdre Featherstone, who had a mastectomy as part of treatment for breast cancer, the event which started out with 80 ladies running into the sea in the nip together evolved last year to an event with 2,505 women who broke a world record for the world’s largest skinny dip!
The skinny dip event was attended by women of all ages and sizes, women who have fought cancer, those that are currently battling through it and those that have lost loved ones. The event has raised over 700,000 euro for Aoibhinn’s Pink tie – a charity that provides support to children with cancer and their families.
